Windsor

Situated in the middle of the three major northern Colorado communities of Fort Collins, Greeley, and Loveland is Windsor. Once a sleepy little town Windsor has become a boom-town, a going concern. Its population has doubled in the past decade and is projected to double again in the next decade.

This growth is a result of a thriving business community and large corporations such as Eastman Kodak, Tenneco Packaging, University Photo Products and ICON industries, which have all found a home in Windsor. A solid base of small local businesses are also established. Also the quality and value of housing has led to an influx of residents who prefer a smaller, quieter community to live in and can easily commute to work in nearby towns.

Schools - Weld County RE-4 School District of Windsor has a total of 2,943 students enrolled at 3 elementary schools, 1 charter school, 1 middle school, and 1 high school. A brand new elementary school is due to open in this coming fall. Windsor is less than a half-hour away from Colorado State University in Fort Collins. and the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley.

Community Statistics - Population: 12,264. Elevation: 4,800 ft. Climate: Average summer temp: 85 degrees; avg. winter temp.: 45 degrees; avg. annual precip. 16.3 in. Churches: 15 churches in Windsor of various denominations. Average household income: $42,000.

Parks and Recreation - Three world-class golf courses, and accompanying golf-based communities, have recently been built in Windsor, and attract golf enthusiasts from throughout the region. Windsor Parks and Recreation Department oversees several parks and more are planned. In fact, the 59 acres of developed parks will be nearly tripled in the coming years. Such growth befits a prosperous, forward thinking town such as Windsor. Walking and biking trails are plentiful as are baseball/softball diamonds and open space areas. There is a community owned outdoor swimming pool and two outdoor in-line skating and hockey rinks. Windsor sits at the edge of Colorado’s Rocky Mountains so all of the outdoor activities that are available there are easily accessed.

Health Care - Situated between Fort Collins and Greeley offers Windsor residents the advantage of choice in health care. Both North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley and Poudre Valley Hospital in Fort Collins are excellent facilities!

Jobs Outlook - Major employers in Windsor include Kodak Colorado Division, Tenneco Packaging, Metal Container, a subsidiary of Anheuser Busch, and ICON industries.
