Wellington

Wellington is a beautiful community just to the north of Fort Collins along the Front Range. It’s a town that has held fast to its rural roots even as it has doubled in size in the past several years. One visit to the serene town of Wellington is enough to see why more and more people have made their homes here, the views of the mountains alone make Wellington worth considering. But there is also a picture perfect main street, friendly folks, and convenient access to Fort Collins and other major Colorado cities.

Schools - There is an elementary school and a middle school in Wellington. High school students attend one of three nearby Poudre School District high schools in Fort Collins, which are all very highly rated. The graduation rate in the Poudre School District is 94% and the average ACT scores are 23.2, well above the state and national averages. Higher education options are ample in Northern Colorado, including the University of Northern Colorado, Aims Community College , both in Greeley, and Colorado State University and Front Range Community College, in Fort Collins.

The mountains, and all the outdoor recreation they offer, are only minutes away, as is Horsetooth State Park which is a Northern Colorado boating mecca.

Health Care - Poudre Valley Hospital in Fort Collins is the main health care option for Wellington residents, and an excellent one. In 2006 a new, state of the art hospital will open near Ft.Collins and minutes away from Wellington, only improving health care in the area.

Jobs Outlook - Agriculture remains the primary industry with vegetables, grain crops, sugar beets, alfalfa and cattle as major commodities. However, Wellington is fast growing into a bedroom community of Fort Collins and shares in its diverse economy on the strength of companies such as Hewlett-Packard, Agilent Technologies, Anheuser Busch, Allegheny Teledyne Waterpick, and Eastman Kodak as well as Colorado State University.
