Severance

Severance is a quiet little town on the plains. Severance holds tight to its rustic roots and is best known for being the home of Bruce’s Bar, which is famous for its Rocky Mountain Oysters. If you don’t know what Rocky Mountain Oysters are, you’ll just have to visit Bruce’s and give them a try! Here’s a hint: they don’t come from the ocean.

Severance acts as a “bedroom community” to the larger Northern Colorado communities such as Greeley, Windsor, and Fort Collins, but it maintains the down home atmosphere found in small towns.

Schools - The children of Severance attend the excellent schools in Windsor. Higher education options are ample in Northern Colorado, including the University of Northern Colorado, Aims Community College , both in Greeley, and Colorado State University and Front Range Community College , in Fort Collins.

Community Statistics - Population: 620. Climate: 300 days of sunshine per year. Geography: 6 miles northeast of Windsor and 17 miles east of Fort Collins.

Parks and Recreation - A new park is about to open in Severance. Severance enjoys proximity to larger communities, like Windsor, that have every possible recreation option available including tennis, golf, baskeball, and baseball. The mountains are less than an hour away, so nature and adventure lovers will have no trouble escaping to the wilderness.

Health Care - Severance is minutes away from Greeley, Fort Collins, and Windsor and share in those communities excellent health care.

Jobs Outlook - The major employers of Greeley include Conagra, Inc., the University of Northern Colorado, State Farm Insurance, and the North Colorado Medical Center. Major employers in Windsor are Kodak Colorado Division, Tenneco Packaging, Metal Container (subsidiary of Anheuser Busch) and ICON industries. As a college town, education accounts for a large portion of the employment available in Fort Collins. Technology companies including Hewlett-Packard and Agilent Technologies are among the other large employers in town and Anheuser Busch, Allegheny Teledyne Waterpick, and Eastman Kodak help round out Fort Collins’s diverse business community.
