Berthoud

Known as “The Garden Spot of Colorado,” Berthoud is a lovely, prosperous, even idyllic, middle sized community situated between Loveland and Longmont along the Front Range of Colorado.

The downtown area embodies the spirit of Berthoud. It’s charming, with little shops and restaurants, as well as a museum and the new Community Center. This is a uniquely tight-knit community, a feeling that is reflected in the full calendar of local events that keep Berthoud buzzing with activity and good feeling throughout the year.

Berthoud’s proximity to I-25 offers easy access to larger cities like Fort Collins, Boulder and Denver, as well as a short drive to Colorado’s unparalleled Rocky Mountains.

Schools - Berthoud’s young residents are educated at two elementary schools, Turner Middle School and Berthoud High School. The Northern Colorado institutes of higher learning, Aims Community College, Greeley; Front Range Community College, Fort Collins; The University of Northern Colorado, Greeley; Colorado State University, Fort Collins; and The University of Colorado, Boulder are all nearby.

Community Statistics - Population: 5,036. Climate: 300+ days of sunshine, 47.3 inches of annual snowfall. Geography: 30 miles south of Fort Collins, 20 miles north of Denver. Religion: 11 churches of various denominations. Average household income: $48,000.

Parks and Recreation - There are several parks within Berthoud, and numerous large recreation centers, including Carter Lake, Boyd Lake and Pinewood and Flatiron reservoirs, are all nearby. Abundant outdoor activities include rock climbing, fishing, boating, hiking or camping. Football, baseball, softball, tennis and golf are popular in Berthoud as well. It’s close to some of the best skiing in the world, and Rocky Mountain National Park is less than an hour away.

Health Care - McKee Medical Center of Loveland serves the basic needs of the Berthoud community. Other hospitals in nearby communities are Poudre Valley Hospital in Fort Collins; Northern Colorado Medical Center in Greeley, and Longmont United Hospital in Longmont.

Jobs Outlook - Berthoud is unique in that it is such a modern, progressive and growing city, yet it continues to have a strong agricultural base to its economy, particularly the sugar beet industry. There are dozens of small businesses in Berthoud and there is overlap with the economies of Longmont and Loveland.
